Safe Environment
Protecting Our Children
Preventing – Responding – Reporting
At St. Peter the Apostle Parish, we are dedicated to providing a safe, respectful, and faith-filled environment for everyone, especially our children and youth. In partnership with the Diocese of San Diego, we follow transparent policies to prevent abuse, respond to concerns, and report misconduct.
Our Commitment
We ensure that all parish ministers, clergy, volunteers, and catechetical staff:
- Are background-checked and screened
- Receive training on professional conduct and boundaries
- Are educated on how to recognize and respond to signs of abuse
By following the Safe Environment Program of the Diocese of San Diego, we equip everyone who works with minors to create a culture of safety and accountability.
Mandatory Volunteer Clearance
All volunteers working with minors in the following programs must complete the Safe Environment Clearance Process before beginning their role:
- Catholic Schools
- Religious Education Programs
- Youth Ministries
This includes:
- Online training through CMG Connect (Catholic Mutual Group)
- A background check
No volunteer role involving children may begin until the clearance process is
complete.
