The process of Natural Family Planning (NFP) produces so many benefits to the sacramental marriage. In general, NFP is defined as methods for achieving or postponing pregnancy that are based on observations of naturally occurring signs in the woman's body that inform the couple of the fertile and infertile phases of her cycle.
Authentic NFP never interferes with the transmission of life. Various natural planning methods are being taught throughout the world that respect the Natural Law and are accepted by most cultures and religions. This method is not the old "Rhythm" method that was based on the calendar.
Studies show that 0.2% of couples who practice NFP end up in divorce compared to 50 - 70 percent of couples who contracept or sterilize themselves. Learning the method from a certified NFP teacher is the only cost involved. It is predictable that those who respect and follow God's Law attain a closer relationship with God as they have chosen to be totally dependent on His will. Drawing close to our Creator, in turn, inspires us all the more to observe His Laws as we receive graces for our physical well-being, moral strength and spirituality.
