Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! We, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church want you to have a successful marriage and we know that you want that for yourselves too. Hopefully what follows will answer your preliminary questions regarding how to proceed.
Getting Started
If you wish to celebrate your wedding at St. Peter the Apostle, you should contact the parish office for an appointment with one of our priests as soon as possible after your engagement, and certainly before any plans are made about a reception or other arrangements.
You may do this by calling the parish office at 760-689-6200 for an appointment.
The Sacrament of Marriage:
In the Sacrament of Marriage, spouses publicly announce a covenant in the Lord to be faithful and to support each other in love. These promises (marriage vows) are proclaimed in the company of the worshiping community—the Church—their families and their friends. The sacramental nature of marriage focuses on the two spouses as a living sign of the love that Christ Jesus has for the Church—being willing to love without condition and ready to forgive. In this sacrament, God gives the two spouses the grace that they will need to journey with each other faithfully, to grow in their love, and to demonstrate their love in and through their children.
Preparation time
Because the commitment of married love is so important for the couple and plays such an integral role in the sacramental life of the Church an extensive pre-marital preparation program is in place which normally requires at least six months of preparation time to complete.
The parish priests/deacons of St. Peter the Apostle and/or other Catholic clergy may officiate at your marriage.
